James Stearns

James' wife's name is unknown. He had sons Charles, Moses [who served in the Revolution in the 1st Division of the NC Militia] and John who lived in Chester Co. James probably inherited the Black River plantation granted to his father in 1735. He leased this land to Charles Brown in 1760; it was sold to Ruffin Taylor in 1787.
