Abner Chaffin

(1765 - 1830)



Abner lived in Burke Co NC during the 1790's. In 1794 he lived on Creek adjoining land owned by Amos Chaffin. Came to Tennessee in Nov of 1799. He is on the TN 1802 tax list along with brother Joseph Chaffin. Abner was a corporal in the War of 1812. He founded the Chaffin settlement on Flynn's Creek in Jackson Co TN.

1820 Census, Jackson Co. Both Abner and Joseph Chaffin Sr. were listed, both of them and their spouses over age 45.
