Jacob and Obediah were apparently twins. The were born the same year their mother died; perhaps their birth was the cause of her death. Their oldest brother William was named guardian of Jacob & Obediah, as well as Ruth and Lula. Between the time of this guardianship and the actual settlement of the estate of their grandfather William Ezekiel Murphy in the mid 1880's, Jacob is no longer mentioned. He must have died between 1880-1884.
