In addition to William's service in Co. E, 11th Brigade, Texas State Troops, he later enrolled as a Blacksmith in Co. B, 1st Cavalry Regiment, Texas State Troops on January 27, 1864 at Velasco, Texas. Another Compiled Service Record card shows his date of enrollment as January 31, 1864.
