James Madison Vinsant

James Madison "Jim" Vinsant was a Private in Company I, 15th AR Infantry, CSA. He enlisted 23 Feb 1862 at Boston Mountain for 30 days. When he and his brother Tom applied for their veteran's pensions, they stated that they were in Company B, Brown's Battalion - this group was attached to Bryan's Indian Regiment for which no muster rolls have survived.

By 1868, Jim's family was living in Texas where son Lee was born in November of 1870. They settled in Ben Franklin, Delta Co TX. About 1894, they moved to Canyon, Randall County,TX where Jim and Susan are buried.
