Nathan Pike

(12 Oct 1749 - 14 Apr 1791)

Cane Creek MM: 1769, 11th m, 8th d Nathan, son of John & Abigail of Orange Co, married Elizabeth Williams.

12 Nov 1774. Nathan Pike of Surry Co, yeoman, sold land to John Flanen of Chatham Co for 60#'s. It was 175 acres in Guilford Co, on the waters of Brush Creek, waters of Rocky River, line of Moses Nelson. Part of a tract from Granville to Nelson, 28 Jun 1762. Nelson sold to Jeffrey Beck 4 Jan 1764; Beck sold to John Johnston on 27 Jul 1767 [who must have sold it to Nathan] Signed by Nathan Pike and Elizabeth Pike.
Wit: John Pike, William Rhodes, William Green.
Acknowledged May 1775 term. DB 1, p.348

3 Jun 1775, Nathan was granted certificate to move to the New Garden Monthly Meeting.

He bought land from the estate of Mr. May of Surry Co in 1783.

There is a Nathan Pike on the taxpayers list in Wayne Co in 1786 and there is a Nathan Pike in the 1790 census of Wayne Co. There was a single male over 16, two males under 16, and three females. Since Nathan died at Deep River, Guilford, NC, this is likely a different Nathan Pike. I believe it to be his cousin, son of Samuel Pike.

Said to be buried Cane Creek MM Cemetery, Snow Camp, now Alamance, NC.
