Mary [Murphy]

( - )

According to some sources Mary may have been the daughter of Harmon/Herman Husband who was linked with the North Carolina Regulators. [Husband was actually a Quaker who signed petitions, etc. but never fought; he was arrested by the English but tried and released.]

However, the following would seem to indicate that she was NOT the daughter of Harmon Husband:

Guilford NC DB 1, p.86
31 Aug 1771 Roger Murphy of Guilford Co and Mary his wife to Peter Mock for 50£, tract on branch of Sandy Creek, part of tract granted to Hermon Husband by Earl of Granville on 5 Aug 1758 of 644 acres, called the Levell. This tract 200 acres. Signed: Roger Murphey, Mary (X) Murphy. Wit: William Ward, Samuel Owings. Proved by Ward Feb Court 1772.
[then 3 years later]
Guilford NC DB 1, p.308
20 Aug 1774 Jacob Gregg of Orange County, Millwright, to Mary Husband, his second cousin and daughter of Hermon Husband of Orange County. For 100£ paid by Phebe Cox grandmother of the said Mary Husband and for natural love & affection. Tract in Orange Co on Sandy Creek, Saml Walker's Mill dam. 640 acres. Signed: Jacob Gregg. Wit: James Pugh, Samuel Frazier, Hermon Husband. Proved by Frazier Feb Court 1775.
