Rowan Co Marriage:
BRADSHAW, Robert - LIPPARD, Jane, Apr. 23, 1846
Robert Ellis, Bondsman, J. H. Hardie Jr., wit.

Here is a Robert Bradshaw in 1850 in Rowan Co.
1850 Census. School Dist 30, Rowan Co NC
Robert R. Bradshaw, age 41 [born circa 1809] in NC
Jane Bradshaw, age 21, b. NC [looks like Jane Lippard above]
Elisabeth, age 19. Henry, age 16, Julia 14, and Laura, age 2.

The 1860 census in Rowan Co often listed children in households and gave their guardian - unusual but useful. I did not find Robert or Jane or the older daughters in 1860. I did find a Henry Bradshaw, age 26, living in a hotel apparently owned or managed by Robert W. Foard, age 49, in Concord, Cabarrus Co NC. Henry was born in NC and was a merchant with personal property valued at $8280. Robert Foard was likely kin.

Living South of Salisbury in Rowan Co was Laura Bradshaw, age 12. She was living in the home of Robert Ellis, age 47, his wife, Margaret L., and daughters Mary 6, and Sarah age 1. Laura was enumerated as "R. Ellis Gdn. for Laura Bradshaw" and she had personal estate of $2700 [likely slaves]. This was household 926.

In Household 425, also south of Salisbury but given as P.O. Gold Hill, I found two other Bradshaw girls. They were in the home of Pheby Cuningham, age 53, Elizabeth, age 51, Rebeckah, age 49, Sarah, age 47, all ladies b. in SC, and Bathsheba, age 40, a school teacher, born in NC. The girls were listed as "John Bradshaw Gdn F. Bradshaw, age 10, and ditto for Cora Bradshaw, age 8 - both born in NC. The older girl had $2000 worth of real estate, $2500 worth of personal estate; Cora had $2500 worth of personal estate. Seems to me these are the young daughters of deceased Robert Bradshaw and his second wife, Jane. Strangely enough these girls are also listed in the household of John A. Bradshaw who was enumerated in the part of the county North of the NC Railroad, P.O. also given as Salisbury; household 296. John A. Bradshaw was age 33, wife Mary B. was 33. Harriet age 4 and Mary G. age 1. Florence age 9, Cora age 8. Then it's written "John A. Bradshaw Gdn of Cora & F. Bradshaw" - personal estate of $5200. John seems to have accepted the guardianship of the girls, but I wonder if they were placed in the home of the elderly Cuningham women. Online databases suggest John A. Bradshaw was a son of Austin Bradshaw, brother of Robert Jr. and first cousin to the girls.
