David married Susanna Fansler about 1852, probably in Gentry Co. Marriage record has not been found. David is buried in the Sawyer Cemetery in Black Hawk Co Iowa. Susanna went to Alberta, Canada with some of her children and died there in 1922.

By 1860, Richard and some of his family had moved to Missouri. The census enumerator recorded their surname as "Ham". One wonders.

DIED. - Jacob Harmon, one of the oldest settlers of Black Hawk County, died last night at the poor farm, of paralysis, aged about 70 years. Deceased came to this county in 1853, settling on a farm in Spring Creek Township. He lived there until last fall when he was taken to the poor farm. He suffered two strokes of paralysis, the last of which proved fatal, as stated above.
LATER -- M. W. Gipe informed us this afternoon that Dave Harmon, brother of the deceased, is dying at his home in Spring Creek Township.

David Harmon, of Spring Creek, was buried there yesterday. He was a brother of Jacob Harmon, who died at the poor farm a few days ago.
Unexplainably the same blurb appeared on 3 May 1893, in the same newspaper under the column, "News Collector"

...David Harmon, an old settler, died Monday morning at 3 o'clock; resides 3 miles east of town. Mr. Harmon is an old respected citizen aged 78 years. Disease of the spleen is the cause of his death. He was buried Wednesday.

He was buried in the Sawyer Cemetery, La Porte City, Black Hawk Co, Iowa. However, he was only about 60, not 78.
