Evan P. Haden was a Corp in Co K, 45 the Regt, Alabama Infantry
He was a Prisoner of War who died at Nashville, TN in the U. S. General Hospital, in March of 1865. He had been captured at Spring Hill, TN on 18 Dec 1864; admitted to the Hospital on 29 Dec and he died 23 March 1865 of gangrene and septicemia, age 19. buried Grave #12706, City Cemetery. His diagnosis was gunshot and fracture of the right ulna and fl., right hip. the missile was a combat ball; treatment was "incision made & ball removed". He was ill for nearly three months - he must have suffered a slow and very terrible death.
Evan had enlisted as a private March 15, 1862, in Macon Co AL,, to Capt. William S.. Goodwyn for 3 years or the war. He would have been only 16 years old. He was to rendezvous at Loachapoka [Lee County, AL]. He appears on a roll for Co K, 45th Regt as receiving clothing, 13 April 1864.
