Aunt Mattie's husband had already died by 1940; children, Neva, Frances, John, all died as young adults in reverse order of their ages. Mattie used to have an annual family reunion in Tahlequah which was their home for many years. She had a huge white house; it was great fun to explore. She kept boarders that attended the college in Tahlequah.

From the King home were Nita and Frances, deceased; Mrs. Eva Fulcher, Mrs. Iva Trvilian, Mrs. Sula Peeler, Mrs. Winnie Bice, John, Lester, and Mrs. Josie Davis.

Died at her home in Talequah while her sister Nora was visiting. Buried Tahlequah City Cemetery.

Talequah (Special) -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Rowena King, 80, will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the First Methodist Church here with the pastor, Reverend Bill Henry, officiating.
Burial will be in Tahlequah City Cemetery with Reed-Culver Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers will include Clell Yeager, Ray Jarvis, James Molloy, Bill Hinds, Keith Holland, and Ray Holden.
Mrs. King died in a Tahlequah hospital of a heart attack Friday. Born February 10, 1882 in Cave, Arkansas, she had lived in the Tahlequah area since 1926.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church and its WSCS, Tahlequah Study Club and Daisy Garden Club.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Joseph Fulcher, Tulsa, Mrs. Harvy Trevilian, Mount Vernon, New York, Mrs. Arthur David, Arlington Virginia, Mrs. Harry Thelham, New York City, and Mrs. Winnie Bice, Broken Arrow; two sisters, Mrs. K.M. Comstock, Springdale, Arkansas, and Mrs. Ira Comstock, Van Buren, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Aug 9 & 10, 1980 - The Hays family had a reunion organized by David A. King - out of town visitors stayed at the Western Hills Resort in Wagoner, Oklahoma. I found the letter from David to my mother (JoEllen McKim) with her reservation card. He mentioned a floral arrangements was to be placed in the sanctuary of the Methodist Church in memory of our loved ones. I'm quite sure this was the last time these cousins were together There was a list of attendees included:
