Caleb Dodson
(Abt 1752 - 1836)
Caleb married Elizabeth Petty, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Marshall Petty.
Caleb made application for his pension on service in the Revolution. He was drafted the 1st of Mar in 1779 and served under Capt Peter Rogers, Lt. Anthony Irby & Ens Peter Barsdale. He marched to Salisbury, then Mecklenbury, then Camden & Stono SC where he was in a severe battle in Jul of 1779. He was discharged Aug 1799. He stated he was born in Fauquier in 1752 and came to Halifax Co when about 12 and has lived there ever since. The pension was rejected as he could not prove six months service.
DAR Patriot. He also furnished supplies and is in the VA public claims.

p.283 January Court 1803. Caleb Dodson petitioned for a water grist mill - land both sides of Jeremy's fork of Birches Creek. Sheriff was charged to empanel 12 persons to meet the first day day of the next month, to examined property above and below which may be overflowed and assess what damages can be expected, whether the health of the neighborhood will be annoyed by stagnation of the water, etc. Return report to February court.

Begin Elias Dodson's line, Ezekiel Chaney's line, pine in Joshua Dodsons line, Caleb Dodson's line to the Beginning. Signed: Nathan (X) Chany, Eliza (x) Chany. 21 Sep 1807. Ack and Elizabeth privily examined.
