MRS. MARY WALTERS HOLLAND, wife of the late Christopher G. Holland, died yesterday at her home on Main Street after a protracted illness of about two months. Since early spring of this year she had been in feeble health, and on July 7th, she was compelled to take to her bed.
Mary Catherine Walters was born at Cottage Grove near this city, 17 Nov 1835, and was the daughter of A. G. Walters and wife. Her early life was spent at her home and her education was begun at the Greensboro Female College and completed at Hollins Institute. In 1885, [prob. 1865, 1885] she married the late C. G. Holland.
Her children are Messrs. W. W. and W. A. Holland of this city; Mrs. W. D. Judkins of New York; Mr. Frank D. Holland of Atlanta, GA; Mr. C. G. Holland, Mrs. Julian M. Robinson [Bessie], and Miss Nellie M. Holland of this city. Mrs. Holland is also survived by three brothers: Messrs. Felix W., R. A. and A. E. Waters, all of Danville or vicinity. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Funeral services will conducted from the First Baptist Church tomorrow and interment will be made in Green Hill Cemetery.
