Bedford Mail, published Bedford, Indiana. April 22, 1892, p. 4
Mr. William W. Adamson was born in eastern Tennesse, Dec. 7, 1800. His father was a farmer and until William was in his seventeenth year his time was spent in roaming over the hills, valleys, and mountains of his native state and in attending to the duties incident to a boy's life.
...
When he was in his seventh (17th?) year, his father having died ...they decided to quit his native state for Indiana.
In company with his mother, brothers, sisters and some friends, among whom were some of the Williams ...twenty persons in all. They started for Indiana about the first of September but owing to almost constant rain, muddy roads and swollen streams, did not reach Lawrence county Indiana until November.
....
At the age of twenty-five he was married to Miss Susan Chesnut, a blooming maid of fifteen summers. Eight children were born unto them, four sons and four daughter, six of whom still survive.
After the marriage of his oldest son he moved on a farm ...1 1/2 miles south of Fayetteville, where he remained until after the marriage of his youngest son, when he gave up the old homestead and retired with his aged companion to Bedford, Indiana, where he remained until her death on April, 1887.
....
In stature he is small, but well built, being about five feet six inches high and weighing from 135 to 145 lbs. Through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he has given birth to over one hundred souls.
He is ninety-one years old, can get around well for a man of that age, though he is feeble and is enjoying moderately good health.
