Maj. Pleasant Henderson

REVOLUTIONARY HEROES OF TENNESSEE: Maj. Pleasant Henrderson applied for revolutionary pension in Carroll Co TN in 1832. He was born 9 Jan 1756 in Granville Co NC. He enlisted 1776 and served in Capt Thomas Satterwhite's company, Col. John Butler's North Carolina Regiment. He volunteered lated in summer or fall of 1778 & was appointed lieutenant and served in Capt Richard Taylor's Co, Col. James Saunders' Regt and in Capt Jamison's Co, Col. Lytle's Regt. He marched to Charleston & then Savannah in defence of SC & GA. He re-enlisted in 1781 and was appt major in Col. Malmedy's Regt. He was in the battle of Ramsour's Mill. He moved from Chapel Hill NC on 21 May 1830 to Huntingdon, Carroll Co TN. He died in Huntingdon 10 Dec 1843. He was survived by the following children: Tip S., Eliza I. Jones and Alexander M. Other known children were Pleasant Jr and Martin who married Elizabeth Earl Johnson. Eliza was born 1798 and married 1820 to Hamilton Chamberlain Jones.
