Individual Details

A note with Martin's name in the Ancestral File (Born) Chandler. He seems to have been born two years before Phoebe Brown married Elijah Sebastian. Did she have a previous marriage? Is Martin's name actually Chandler and not Sebastian - I doubt a legal adoption at that early time. I have also seen him with the middle name Chandler.

[I doubt they married as early as 1817, if the first child was born in 1823.]

In the 1850 Fannin Co TX Census, "M" Sebastian is 51 years old, or born 1799. Occupation is Stone Mason. Mourning, also listed as "M" was 50. Both born in North Carolina. Children with them in 1850 were J C (Catherine) age 20; F M age 17, P A age 14, R A age 10 and L age 7. Children all born in Missouri.

In 1860, M. Sebastian is 61, his wife M, 60 and Catherine, Rachel, and Lucinda are still at home. In the next household is daughter Hulda and her family.
