Mrs. Merle Wishard, 86 years old, a resident of Grove Manor Nursing Home, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 1989, at 7:55 a.m. at Grove Manor in Honey Grove.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12th at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Chapel in Honey Grove, with Rev. Bobby Holt officiating. Burial was to follow a Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove.
Mrs. Wishard was born in the Dial Community November 25, 1902, the daughter of John R. Avery and Necie Anderson Avery.
She was married October 11, 1922, at the Anderson home in Dial Community to Clifton F. Wishard. He preceded her in death October 15, 1979.
She was a homemaker and member of the Dial Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Manette and Rayford Stroud of Honey Grove; two grandsons, David Stroud of Puyallup, Washington and Douglas Stroud of Honey Grove; four great-grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Lena Smith of Paris; two brothers, Theo and Johnny Avery of Honey Grove.
One sister, Mrs. Pearl Joyce preceded her in death.
