Abraham and Rachel [____] Hammer born Randolph County, NC July 31, 1768. Abraham
HAMMER found living near Jacob ROUTH, Joseph ROUTH and Isaac REDFERN in Randolph
County Records.
Routh and Refern families were also part of this Quaker group which included the Adamsons.


Abington Monthly Meeting, 12mo 29d, 1755 Abraham Hammer acknowledged his marriage to a non-Quaker. He was accepted as a member. The name of his wife is not mentioned. .
10 mo, 29d, 1759 He requested a certificate to go to Orange Co NC to the Cane Creek Monthly meeting. Since his wife was still not Quaker, she and the children were not named.

Cane Creek Monthly Meeting, Orange Co NC:
7 Jun 1760 Abraham, received on certificate
5 Nov 1768 Abraham, dismissed, along with George Henry as they had joined a group protesting the taxes imposed on them and also "for making warlike preparations". [this would be at the time of the Regulators and the Battle of Alamance]

Rachel requested a certificate and became a member of Cane Creek, the 1st mo, 3rd day, 1779.
8mo, 4d, 1781, their three younger children, Rachel, Mary & Abraham Jr. were received as members, along with Abraham Sr. and Rachel.

Abraham Sr. and son Elisha are on the 1779 Tax list for Randolph Co, indicating Elisha was born by 1758. In 1785, both Elisha and Isaac were listed with 75 acres of land.
