You asked for information about Vincent Garner. I don't have a lot. One of the Delaware County histories I looked at (I cannot tell you which one at present.) said that the history of the family was lost in a fire that occurred in Vincent Garner's house. Most of what I have is from the census at this point. I have that he was born about 1827 and died about 1892. His wife was Julia A., but I am not sure whether I have her maiden name or not. I'll have to look. His children from the census are Alfred b. 1852, Austin b. 1853, Amanda b. 1857, George, b. 1859, Sarah E. b. 1862, John b. 1864. And not from the census Melvina b. 1851. Melvina was my great grandmother. I don't have much on her family because I wasn't convinced that this was her family. My aunt always said her father was Vincent Garner, but she does not appear with the family in the 1860 census. She was born in 1851 and married by 1870, so that was the only census to find her with her family, and she just isn't there by that name anyway. When I went to Muncie last year, I went to the courthouse and looked at the entry for her death certificate, and it did say that her father was Vincent Garner and her mother Julia, but I cannot remember the maiden name if it was there. So, I am accepting that it was. I have not looked up too much about the family yet though. It puzzles me that she was not there in 1860. I realize that it could have been an error but still...
