A Petition to the NC General Assembly dated 7 Oct 1807 from residents of Huntsville, Surry Co NC includes the name SOLOMON JONES. [Found on Cumberland Co KY USGenWeb site as many of the names from Surry are later found in Cumberland. No Flynns or Poindexters signed the petition.] They were requesting the name of the town be changed to Eaton's Town or Eatonville as Peter E. Eaton had purchased most of the town.

There were three other children that died before Lemuel was born.

A Solomon Jones found in Searcy Co AR in 1850, Campbell Twp, p.171b, Dwelling 124 which is the household of Hyram Evans and wife Charity. Solomon was 70 years old, born in North Carolina.

No parents have been found for Solomon Jones, but since he married Betsy, daughter of Isaac Burnham, I would think he might have been the son or nephew of a David Jones who bought land from Isaac Burnham in Davidson Co TN in 1803; David Jones also witnessed a deed of gift from Isaac Burnham to John Burnham in 1804.
