Said to have been Ensign in the Amherst Militia in 1769 - he would have been very young, perhaps about 17.

1 May 1777. Aaron Higginbotham Sr. to Aaron Higginbotham, Jr. 390 acres on Threshers' Creek, Amherst, land the he bought of Neill Campbell. For good will and affection to his son Aaron, Jr. Amherst DB D, p.515


There was a Bible record from the family of Absalom Higginbotham, son of Aaron Jr. - once in the possession of Mrs. S. B. Higginbotham of Rockbridge Co VA. It has been transcribed in the William & Mary Quarterly, Vol. 27, Issue 4 [Apr 1919], p.294-296. The dates of the Aaron Jr.'s family have come from that transcription.
