Julia may have been a young widow. There was a child, Nancy A. Davis, age 7, living with Julia & Josiah in the 1850 Census.

8 Jan 1896 Mrs. Julis C. Foster was born in Tennessee, October 24, 1824 and was reared in that state until 18 years of age and educated in a school of high grade. About 1842 she came with her parents to Arkansas and located near Van Buren. Early in 1846 she was married to Josiah Foster, and died December 25, 1895, at the residence of her son-in-law, W. H. Byers, of Monette, MO, being about 71 years of age.
Mrs. Foster was the mother of ten children, six of which still live. Her husband died 25 years ago. She was a true member of the Presbyterian Church, and faithful supporter of that communion.
Mrs. Foster was a cousin to Gen. A. P. Stewart, of Confederate _____ and presented the flag to ____ of the Mexican War.
This Christian lady was true to her home, her church and country, and having done well this work of life passed into the heavens to reap the rewards of such as are devoted to God and to convictions of duty. She was buried by the grave of her husband on Dec 27, 1895, the funeral services being conducted from the old family residence three miles from Van Buren. A son and daughter, with the son-in-law from Monette, MO were present, also a goodly number of kindred and friends. "Peace to her ashes" and blessings to them. AHW.
