Northampton Co NC Deed Book 3, p.60 (37) 19 Jul 1759. Henry Pope & wife Tabitha of Halifax sold to Blake Baker as follows. Barnaby McKinnie dec'd late of Edgecome Co was possessed of land and a mill in Northampton - 400 Acres. His will of 13 Aug 1737 devised this land to son Richard McKinnie & if he had no issue then the sd 400 A to go to his daughters Patience Lane & Mourning Pope. Richard died without issue. John Lane, heir of Patience sold his part to Col. Joseph Lane who sold it to Blake Baker. Henry Pope & Blake Baker partitioned the 400 acres. James Turner, sheriff of Northampton inquired as ordered. Jurors: William Barnes, Green Hill, Thos. Williams, Benj Branch, John Williams, Harwood Jones, John Paul, Joseph Exum, Thomas Barret, Barnabe Thomas, Epaphroditus Kilbee, William Moore. The land was sold to sd. Blake Baker. Signed: Henry Pope, Tabitha Pope. Wit: J. Edwards, James Holderness, John Gittest. Oct Ct. 1759.
Halifax Will Bk 1, p.144. Oct 1764. Names eldest son Burrell Pope, other sons Willis, John, Wiley & Henry Augustine. Extr: wife, Tabitha, John Brandford & Jesse Pope.
Deed Book 14; p.247 22 Feb 1775 Henry Pope had died and land was passed to Burwell Pope, his eldest son.
