JOHN Crook

(Abt 1740 - 1838)

John Crook appeared to have been married 3 times. Names of the first two wives are unknown.

This is likely John in Rowan Co, NC between living in Virginia and before moving to Tennessee, but I have no proof:
1790 Census. Rowan, NC
John Crook: 1m under 16, 1m over 16, 3 females, 2 slaves.
1800 Census. Salisbury, Rowan, NC
John Crook: 1m 10-16, 1m 16-26, 1m over 45. 1 female over 45. 3 slaves.

The relationship of John Crook to Jane is proved by deeds in White Co TN dated Apr 10, 1817, when John Crook sold land to his daughter Jane Goolsby. There were two tracts: State of TN Grants #9239 and 9240.

The researcher is quick to point out that this John Crook lived to a remarkable age. The 1830 census would seem to confirm that was likely - his will found written in 1834.

1820 Census. White Co, TN
John Crook: 1m over 45. 1f over 45.
