Richard, his father, and the baby are listed as "mu" for mulatto or mixed blood. A William Scott on the same page was also listed as "mu". Elizabeth was "W" for white. Instructions to the enumerators were to record the race as they saw it - this was not a question answered by the household.

I checked back in 1870. Leven Scott and his family were certainly all marked "W" that year.

Elizabeth Scott died 6 Apr 1938, Rushville, Schuyler, IL at age 90. She was born 25 Apr 1847, Madison Co KY. Her father was Nathan Harrison, her mother Sarah Gabbard. Her husband was Richard Scott. She was buried Rushville Cemetery, on 8 Apr 1838.

Son Carl Scott was married in Vancouver, Clarke Co, Washington. He was age 30, living in Portland, Oregon. Born in Illinois. Father was R. M. Scott, mother Elizabeth Harrison, born KY. The bride was Bonnie Terry, age 23, of King Co, Washington. Her father was Sylvester Terry; b. Indiana; her mother, Kelley Russell, b. Missouri. This was the first marriage for both. they were married by J. M. Cause, Minister of Vancouver, on 31 August. The year not given, but the records before and after were in 1914. Witnesses were William Tibbond and Mrs. J. M. Cause.
Carl C. Scott is listed in the Washington State Death Certificates - died 13 Mar 1949, Seattle, King Co.
