Azariah was a Brig. Gen. in the War of 1812. He was in command of the 16th Brigade, 3rd Division of the NC State Militia.

Served in the NC State Senate from Caswell Co NC, 1805-1811.

Azariah died Mar of 1850 according to the Mortality Census for Caswell Co.. Said to be 81, born in NC and died of Old Age.

Azariah and his wife Elizabeth are buried in a small family cemetery at what was her father's [Col. John Williams] plantation.
