She was the widow of J. S. (John) Brown who died 8 Jan 1908 in Grayson Co, TX. they were married 22 Jun 1858 in McDonald Co, Missouri. He served in the Confederates States during the war between the States.
She was 87 , born 30 Dec 1841 in Newton Co, TN and had resided in Texas, in Grayson County for 62 years.
Her husband's full name was John Samuel Brown and he served in the infantry. Signed: Mrs. Mary (X) Brown. 22 March 1929.
Her witnesses were W. J. Hogan and Mrs. S. T. Crimm
R. W. May, County Assessor certified she was on the tax rolls of Grayson County and had no property of any value.
T. A. Anderson swore before the County Judge of Grayson Co, A. S. Noble, that he had lived in Grayson Co for more than 50 years and knew J. S. Brown during his lifetime and in the Civil War. they were both members of Shelby's Brigade and he saw him often, although he was not sure of the company. He knew Mr. Brown for many years following the conflict and they had many conversations about their experiences. He served honorably from the time he enlisted until the close of the conflic. Signed 18 Mar 1959.
The Adjutant General's office stated that a John Borwn enlisted in Newton Co, MO in Co. D, 6th Missouri Cavalry CSA, along with several other J. or J. S. Browns.
Application for Mortuary Warrant from Grayson Co,. F. M. Brown was entrusted with accounts of the late Mrs. Mary Borwn, File Number 45366, who lived in Bells, TX, Grayson Co. The pensioner died 6 Mar 1935 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Hogan. He was her son of Rt. 2, Bells, TX, 7 Mar 1934.
H. H. Barrett, undertaker of Sherman, Grayson Co, TX had charge of the body of Mrs. Mary Brown who died in Bells, Rt. 2, Grayson Co, TX on 6 Mar 1934.
C. S. Carter, MD, was her physician in her last illness and she died due to senility.

At the time of her 90th Birthday, Mary Brown was the oldest member of the Baptist Church at Pink Hill, called Antioch in the early days. She lived with son Frank in her later years.

Mrs. Mary Brown, Rt. 2, Bells, Grayson Co, TX died 6 Mar 1934. She was the widow of the late J. S. Brown. Mary was born 30 Dec 1841 and was age 92 years, 2 months, and 6 days at date. She died of senility. Mrs. S. L. Sillman of Wichita Falls (daughter Sophronia) was the informant and did not know the names of Mary's parents. Shew as buried Washburn, 7 Mar 1934.

Her obituary states that she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Hogan. Services were held at the Pink Hill Baptist Church. Children still living were: William, Frank, George, Cam, John Cecil, Isabel, Nancy, and Safronia. Survivors included 49 grandchildren, 39 great grand child and one sister living in Missouri.
