John M. Haden III, son of John M. & Mary Maupin Haden born ca 1833 [age 22 when married] married 10 Dec 1855 in Albemarle Co VA, Margaret Jones, born ca 1834 [age 21 when married] daughter of James T. & Sarah Jones. John M. Haden III was captured by the Yankess and died in prison. He had three daughters.

By 1860, John's father had died and his mother was living with his oldest brother Asa who was also found in Fluvanna Co. Older brother Beverly was also in Fluvanna Co, in the area of the Palmyra P.O.

This is confirmed from records online at Ancestry. His illness/cause of death is too faded to read.

There are letters from John M. to wife Peggy in the Haden Papers file, Special Collections, U of VA, Charlottesville. Excerpts shared with me:
14 Mar 1864 to dear beloved wife from outside of Richmond "I saw Gen. Sheridan when he was shot and I understand he is dead"
18 May 1864. From Haover Courthouse "I would like to know what has become of brother William
The last letter dated 8 Jun 1864 "I would be glad if could hear from me every night but it is only by chance that I can send a letter off, but I am in hopes this will not last much longer but you must write as often as you can It does me so much good to hear from you I will write as often as I can Tell the children to be good children. I want to see them so much I prey that I may see you soon. If I die meat [sic] me in heaven farewell My Dear one your husband Jno M H"

In 1870, Ida Haden, age 13, and Minnie B. Haden, age 11, as well as Annie Haden, age 7, were living with Paschon B. Dunn and family. Cunningham Township, Fluvanna Co. Apparently both their parents had died.
