Married Elizabeth Gillett, 27 May 1779, Strafford, Orange, VT; married second to Eunice Ursley, 6 Sep 1807, Livonia, Livingston Co, NY. There may have been as may as 14 children. born to Elizabeth "Betsy", one child born to Eunice.
On December 24, 1784 Elias Chamberlin severely beat a young girl named Lydia Bean. Lydia died Jan 1, 1785.

Although a jury found that Elias Chamberlin beat Lydia Bean, and that Lydia died from the wounds inflicted, the territorial Jury of his peers, acquitted Elias Chamberlin of the Charge of Manslaughter. Elias was never retried in any matter concerning Lydia.
May 1776. Captured and tortured by Canadian troops and Indians. Release negotiated by Gen. Benedict Arnold.
