...We notice, in the St. Joe papers, that Mrs. Jennie C. Hornaday has filed a petition for divorce from her husband, Luton D. Hornaday, a traveling man. The petition states that they were married in Butler Co, Ohio, in 1878, and have had two children, one of which is dead. She charges brutal treatment. Last Saturday, he struck her with his fist, knocking her across the bed. She had but recently got our of a sick bed and was very feeble. It is also alleged that he is afflicted with a disorder, in consequence of which she has not slept in the same bed with him for more than a year past. He must have lost piety, sadly, in the last few years. It is told of him, that while living in Preble Co, Ohio, a few years ago, he courted a hired girl and one popped the question. She accepted him, whereupon he said, "Let us pray," and down they got while he offered thanks. They afterwards had a fallingout, when she told of the circumstance.
