Anna filed for her widow's pension soon after Aden's death. A letter dated 10 Jun 1914, written from Fort Smith, AR, refers to corrected papers and a certificate of Aden's death. She also asked if he was entitled to a marker for his grave, and $50 for funeral expenses.

Mrs. Anna Ashley of 101 1/2 North 6th Street, Ft Smith, Sebastian Co, AR, died on 5 Jan 1927 of chronic heart disease and nephritis, carcinoma of the cecum. She was born in 1851 in Kentucky and widowed. Her father was John Campbell; her mother Aldulia Peak. Mrs. Bertha Jones of 101 1/2 Garrison Ave, Ft. Smith, was the informant. Body removed to Kansas City for burial.
