William KENDRICK
(1704 - 1777)
Some give William two sons by Mary Burwell: George born 1728 and Burwell born 1731. A son named Burwell has been disproved for sometime - it is likely Mary and George were also invented. I find no record that William was ever married to anyone except Sarah Jones and certainly his will indicates no earlier marriage and no earlier children. The eight children by Sarah Jones as named in his will were: James, John, Mary, Rebecca, Sarah, Martha, Jones, and Isham. It is unlikely there were any others.
From The Coneto Creek Taylors; Chapter V; "The Kendricks" p. 38-39 - on Ancestry.com.
"As the King William County records were burned, there is little chance for proof of ancestry beyond our Qilliam.
An excellent account of the Kendrick family has been pulished under the name of B. C. Holtzclaw.....(Historial Southern Families, Vol. 1, p. 34-139, Baltimore Genealogical Publiahs Co., 1967.
1. William Kendrick, born in 1704 according the family Bible of his grandson, Richard Fox. Born probably in King William County, Virginia. He died in 1777 in Bute County, North Carolina. His will is dated January 12, 1776 and was probated in the Bute County November Court, 1777.
He married Sarah Jones, born in 1715 according to the Richard Fox family Biblel her parentage is not known, but some interesting comments are made concerning her family in the article by V. C. Holtzclaw. Her will was probated in Warren County, previously Bute County, Febrary Court, 1796. They were the parents of eight children:
1a. James Kendrick, born about 1733. Married Susannah Roberson.
1b. John Kendrick (see P. 39)
1c. Mary Kendrick, born april 12, 1738. Married William Fox, Son of Richard and Hannah Williamson Fox. She died before 1795 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia (ser son, Richard Fox's family Bible).
1d. Rebecca Kendrick, born about 1742, married Mr. Nicholson.
1e. Sarah Kendrick, born about 1744, married Mr. Thornton.
1f. Martha Kendrick, born January 7, 1747, married William Wood.
1g. Jones Kendrick, born about 1750, married Margaret_____.
1h. Isham Kendrick, born about 1755. Married 1 - October 31, 1781, Elizabeth Tucker; 2 - April 17, 1788, Elizabeth Duncan. He died March 17, 1818.
A son, Bennnett Kendrick, has been proposed as belonging to this family, no concrete evidence has been found to prove this contention. The early records of Mary Kendrick Morgan, showed a son, Burwell, which was not possible, and has been eliminated by most descendants. Is it possible there was a son named Bennett? If so, it will have to be proven behond a doubt before it is enterd.
1b. John Kendrick, born about 1735 in Virginia, married Amy Fox, daughter of Richard and Hannah Williamson Fox (see Chapter IV). She was a sister of William Fox who married Mary Kenddrick. John died in Mecklenburg County, Virginia where his will was probated December 16, 1811. John and Amy Fox Kendrick were the parents of nine childen...."

Sons Jones and Isham were the main beneficiaries after the death of Sarah. No other children named.
