Named for Uncle Edward Smyth and check book of Saints for August 30. Kn o wn to Moon's as "Eddie, Lord have mercy on him". It has been reported t h at while working out west somebody called him"Shortie". Eddie didn't l i ke being short and refused to answer to this individual for months. On e d ay he called him Jack ASS. This broke the ice and Eddie answered to J a ck from that day on.
