Rusk Cherokeean, Rusk, Texas, Thursday, November 5, 1959, Page 23, Col. 1: George McGill Dies In Sleep. J'ville---Services for George K. McGill, 84, are pending at the Nogess funeral home in Orange. Burial will be in Jett Cemetery, Orange. Mr. McGill died in his sleep Tuesday night. He was found about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday by a daughter, Mrs. Archie Lindow, of Jacksonville, with whom he had made his home since 1947. A native of South Carolina he was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Horace U. McGill and George K. McGill of Orange, and Tracy McGill, who is in a the U. S. military service; five other daughters, Mrs. Myrna McDonald, Mrs. W. E. Depwe, Mrs. Lulu Condrey, and Mrs. Jame Coward, all of Orange and Mrs. J. D. Mosley of Briston, Pa., a brother, Thomas Reed McGill of Normangee; four sisters, Mrs. Hattie May of El Campo, Mrs. Lulu Johnston of Sulphur, La., Mrs. Corine Wolf of Madisonville, and Mrs. Marie Phifer; 28 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Gragard-Spraggins-Swofford funeral home was in charge of local arrangements.
