Paul joined the service a few months after his brother during World War II and was a pilot for a while in the service. After he got out, he worked at an archery shop selling archery equipment and then later became a Denver City Policeman for twenty-five years. He married Ruth Fanselau 22 March 1943 in Denver, Colorado. They had three children, Martha, Nancy, and Jan all born in Denver Colorado.
