The Oregonian, Portland, Oregon, July 13, 1998, Sunrise Edition, Page B13: A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 1998, in Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home in Hillsboro for Evelyn Merrill, who died July 10 at age 74. Mrs. Merrill was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Smackover, Ark. Her maiden name was Straley. She lived in Oklahoma and Colorado before moving to Oregon. She worked for Tuality Community Hospital as a dietary assistant and seamstress. She also operated Evelyn's Custom Knitting. She married Robert ''Bob'' in 1980; he died in 1997. Her sons, Larry W. Morford and Robert L. Morford, also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Wells of Detroit Lake; sister, Mildred G. Genisio of Clinton, Ind.; brother, Silas B. Straley of Clinton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery.
