Obituary provided by Grant County Genealogical Society: Clancy M. Finney, 75, Platteville, died Tuesday, January 9, 1968 at a Lancaster Nursing Home following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 13, 2 p.m. at the Karrmann funeral home. The Rev. Robert Adams officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery, Military graveside rites were conducted by the American Legion post. Clancy Milo Finney was born April 30 1892 in Platteville. On March 28, 1918 he entered the US Army at Darlington, Wis. During his tour of duty he served in France where he worked as a cook and later on a burial detail. He was discharged at Camp Grant, Illinois on June 9, 1919. Upon returning from service he settled in Platteville where he worked for a wagon-maker and blacksmith. He later took over the business which developed into a furniture and cabinet making shop. He was a skilled craftsman in woodworking. He operated his business until this past fall when he was forced to retire because of an injury received in a fall. He was a charter member of the American Legion Leo M. Kane Post #42 and a member of the Raymond Eustice Barracks, World War I. Surviving are one sister, Miss Mildred Finney, Madison; one brother, Fay, Platteville; one niece, Mrs. James Coole, Rockford, Ill.
