Robert Kirkpatrick was born 22 September 1901 in Amory, Monroe County, Mississippi, and died 18 Jun 1986. He married Lona Irene Jones, who was born 8 December 1901 and died 3 January 1978.

R. Frank Kirkpatrick, as he was formally referred to, was a special agent with the Prudential Insurance Company of America. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University, and was active in community affairs as a member of the First Baptist Church of Starkville, Mississippi and the Oktibbeha County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, the Masons, and the Shriners. In addition to his other memberships, he was a leader in the Lions Club, serving in many capacities. In 1966 he was awarded the Supreme Extension Award, the highest award given by Lions International. Mr. Kirkpatrick was at the time the only man in Mississippi to have received the award, and only fifty-ninth person worldwide to be so honored.
