Heffron, age 83 of Madison died on Tuesday, February 2, 1981 [1982] in a local nursing home. He was born on February 22, 1898 in Mifflin, Wisconsin and had lived in Madison for over 40 years. Mr. Hefffron was an operating engineer for several highway contractors, most recently the Henry Roemisch Company of Middleton. He married the former Erma Martin on November 17, 1921. Mr. Heffron was an Army veteran of World War I, serving with the 32nd Division. he was a member of Bashford United Methodist Church, a life member of the VFW Post 1318, World War I Barracks Group 2086, Madison Scottish Rite Bodies, the Zor Shrine and the Shrine Club. Surviving are his wife Erma; a daughter Ramona and son in law Alan Eberhart of Madison; two brothers, Harley of Platteville and Eudell of Prairie du Sac; a sister, Mrs. Mildred McCluskey of Fennimore; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald and a sister, Mable Richardson. Funeral services will be held at Bashford United Methodist Church at 329 North St. at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 5, with the Reverend Robert Paulson officiating. Graveside services are tentatively planned (weather permitting) for 2:30 pm. at Washburn Cemetery in Arthur (Grant Co.) Wisconsin. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday February 4 at the Gunderson Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive.
