Walter Edmund Hardy

(9 May 1882 - 22 Nov 1958)

Walter Edmund Hardy was an advertising executive in Chicago. He had a heart attack in the 30's or 40's and decided to retire early in South Texas. Clara was a professor of botany and zoology at Northwestern University in Evanston.

They retired to San Benito, Cameron Co., Texas in the 1940's, built their own house and lived a good long life.

There were two (2) children born of the marriage.

Brownsville Herald, Brownsville, Texas, Sunday, November 23, 1958, Page 8, Col. 7: Walter E. Hardy, 76, of San Benito, who had recently taken up residence at Luearlam Manor, died early Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Hardy; two daughters, Mrs. John O'Brien of Brownsville and Mrs. Earl Tabor of Harlingen. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Griffin Thomae Funeral Home in San Benito. The family requests that no flowers be sent but donations be made to the Dolly Vinsant Charity fund. Burial will be in Mont Meta Cemetery.
