Lexington Herald-Leader, Kentucky, December 7, 1992: Raymond A. Simpson, 82, 403 Mountain View Avenue, retired grocery and mining industry worker, widower of Hazel Simpson, died Saturday. Services 1 p.m. Tuesday, First Presbyterian Church. Visitation 6-9 p.m. today, Anderson-Laws Funeral Home.
Harlan Daily Enterprise, Harlan, Kentucky, December 7, 1992, Page 2, Col. 1: Raymond A. Simpson, 82, Harlan, died Saturday, Dec. 5, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. A native of Gretna, Va., he had lived in Harlan for about 35 years. He was retired from the grocery and mining industry. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Harlan. He was a member of Harlan Masonic Lodge No. 870. The husband of the late Hazel Simpson, he is survived by two children, Kenneth Simpson, Middlesboro; and Tom Simpson, Woodland Hills; three sisters, Pearle Shelton, Gretna, Va.; Mary Lee Robertson and Tippy Mayhew, both of Hurt. Va.; and four grandchildren, Kelly Simpson, Hawaii, Benny Simpson, Richmond; and Stacy and Jeremy Simpson, both of Woodland Hills. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Harlan with the Rev. Fred Griffie officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Masonic rites will be conducted at graveside. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Anderson-Laws Funeral Home.
