Jane was born February 19, 1924 in El Reno, Oklahoma a daughter of the Reverend James O. and Ruth (Tandy) Michael.In 1946, in Springfield, Mo., she married Don Wooldridge who preceded her in death in 1977. In July, 1982, she married Eugene Schwab who preceded her in death in March 11, 2010.

She attended elementary school in Miami, Oklahoma and moved to Springfield, Mo. in 1936 graduating from Springfield High School in 1942. In 1942 until 1943, she was employed as a clerk-typist by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C.
She attended Drury College in Springfield from 1943 until 1947, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota, National Honorary Music Sorority and Mortar Board, a National honorary scholastic organization while at the college. She played viola in the Springfield Symphony for five years.

Jane moved to Jefferson City in 1949 and became a member of the First Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and later became choir director. She was a member of the Morning Music Club until 1983 and became a charter member and first president of the Jefferson City Music Society. She was well known as a soprano soloist in many Jefferson City churches and clubs, having appeared in concert as soloist with the Jefferson City Symphony and Oratorio Choir in 1953.
For twenty years, she was an elementary teacher, with eighteen years of those as music teacher at Moreau Heights School, retiring in May, 1986. In 1981, she was chosen as Outstanding Music Teacher of the Year by the Missouri Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Jane was a member the Central United Church of Christ and an active member of their choir, a member and past president of P.E.O., Chapter FW, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Concert Association. She was also a member of the Cole County Historical Society; the Cole County Retired Teachers Association; the Jefferson City Historical Society; the Missouri Conservation Federation; the Mid-Missouri Conservation Society; and the Missouri PrairieFoundation. Survivors include: three daughters, Ann Wooldridge Lauer of Helena, Montana, Suza Wooldridge of Columbia, Mo., and Barbara Wooldridge Schaffer (husband Marshall) of Jefferson City, Mo.; three sisters, Margaret Ryan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Verna Anne Michael of Deer Creek, Oklahoma, and Jeanne Michael Burns of Atlanta, Georgia; and two brothers, James Michael of Oglesby, Illinois and John Michael of Enid, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be at Central United Church of Christ from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016. A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Central United Church of Christ with the Reverend Rushan Sinnaduray officiating. Private graveside services and inurnment will be held in the Evangelical Section of Riverview Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Prairie Foundation, P.O. Box 856, Mexico, Mo. 65265, to help conserve Missouri’s endangered prairie habitat. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
