Graphic Newspaper, Johnson Co. Arkansas, September 9, 1981: Robert C. Temple, aged 94, of Clarksville, died Friday at the Johnson County Regional Hospital. He was a retired civil service employee. Survivors include one son, Lee Douglas Temple of Hartman; one daughter, Mrs. John C. Taylor of Clarksville, one sister Mrs. Maude Wilson of St. Petersburg, Fla; and two grandchildren. Graveside funeral services and burial were at 11 a.m. Saturday with Burley King officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home. Pall bearers were Johnny Rhoades, Cecil Dake, Jay Nicholas, Roy Peters, Carl Edwards and J. A. Cline.

The 3.4 miles stretch of county road on which Bob Temple purchased a farm in 1925 and on which he and his wife lived from 1940, when he retired form public life, until 1976 when they both entered a nursing home in Clarksville, has been officially proclaimed by County Judge Bobby Joe Wilkins as Temple Road, in honor of Mr. Temple's 92nd birthday Feb. 22. He was born and reared in Johnson County and has lived 85 of his 92 years here. Many of the "old timers" remember him when he served as sheriff and collector of Johnson County in the early 20's. Temple Road begins at Borden Corner, runs west one-half mile, then winds south and east into the black topped Catholic Church-Hartman Road.
