Bygones, 25 Years, April 1, 1992: The golden wedding anniversary date of Paul and Peggy Racey, Shelbina, was February 22nd. The couple celebrated their anniversary with family and friends on February 16 in Memphis by attending the United Methodist Church, having dinner at J.D.s, and being honored with a reception in the home of their eldest daughter, Mrs. John Courtney.

A graveside memorial service for Peggy Racey will be held Saturday, May 24, 2003, 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, north of Arbela, MO. Peggy Marie Racey of Shelbina, MO, formerly of Scotland County, MO, passed away February 25, 2003, at the Maple Lawn Care Center in Palmyra, MO. She was born in Ashton, Clark County, MO, on February 21, 1925, the daughter of Paul Fairchild and Esther Marie Howell Foster. On February 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to Paul E. Racey in Memphis, MO. He survives. Peggy is survived by four children, Connie R. Courtney of Memphis, MO, Steven F. Racey of Lancaster, MO, Sally J. Eggers of Columbia, MO, and Judy K. Wilcox of Monroe City, MO; seven grandsons, Jeffrey and James Racey and his wife, Felicia of Little Rock, AR, Brian Eggers and his wife, Rebecka of St. Louis, MO, John Wilcox and his wife, JoAnn, Joseph Wilcox, and Jacob Wilcox of Shelby County, MO, John Foster Courtney of Memphis, MO, as well as five great-grandchildren. She is survived by one brother, Don S. Foster and his wife, Anita of Palmyra, MO; a son-in-law, John R. Wilcox of Shelbyville, MO, and a dear friend, Jodie York of Lancaster, MO.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Fairchild Foster, Jr. and Billy Grant Foster; one son-in-law, John M. Courtney; and one daughter-in-law, Nancy F. Racey. Mrs. Racey attended school in Granger, MO, graduating from Granger High School in 1943. While living in Scotland County, MO she was an active member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church, Carter Chapter O.E.S., VFW Auxiliary, and was on the Scotland County Library Board. After moving to Shelby County, MO in 1966, Peggy was a member of the Shelbina United Methodist Church, PEO-Chapter M of Shelbyville, Shelbina Arts Council, and was active in the Shelbina Clowns and Criers and Shelbina Garden Club. She and Paul were also avid golfers and members of the Shelbina Country Club. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed by those who knew and loved her. A visitation was held February 28, 2003 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Memphis Democrat, May 22, 2003.
