Madison Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, Wisconsin, Tuesday, May 24, 2005, Page 4, Cols. 5 & 6: Gary Dean McDowell, age 59, of Madison, died on Sunday, May 22, 2005, at his home following an apparent heart attack. Gary was born on Aug. 22, 1945, in Boscobel, the son of Lloyd and Wilda (Bacon) McDowell. Following graduation from the Boscobel High School, he served in the u. S. Navy for eight years. He was medically discharged with the rank of Gunners Mate Second Class. He then attended S. W.T.C. in Fennimore and specialized in inventory control. He retired after several years at Oak Hill Correctional Facility. Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy of Dodgeville; three children, Allen (Sally) McDowell of Wisconsin Dells, Aaron McDowell of Madison, and Meghan McDowell of Madison; a granddaughter, Harley McDowell of Wisconsin Dells; two brothers, Raymond McDowell of Reedsburg, and Larry Clasen of Madison; his mother-in-law, Gerry Anderson of Dodgeville; two sisters-in-law, Chris (Brad) Broaden of Dodgeville and Marge (Mike) Stone of Portage; as well as nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Wilda McDowell; a brother, Clyde McDowell; and his father-in-law, DuWayne "Weiner" Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Mary 25, 2005, at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville, with burial in the Haney Ridge Cemetery near Boscobel. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday after 11 a.m.
