The Hemet News, Hemet, California, Friday, March 30, 1928, Page 9, Col. 3: Beloved Woman Taken By Death. Mrs. Lela Guthridge, Pioneer of Ethanac Valley, Hears Final Summons. Mrs. Lela A. Guthridge, who with her husband, has lived for more than 30 years in the pass country west of Hemet, died at her home just beyond Coyote pass on Sunday. She was 49, and was born in Garden Grove, Orange county, coming to the Ethanac valley at the time of her marriage. Mrs. Guthridge was district deputy grand matron of the Eastern Star, a Masonic auxiliary, in 1915 and 1916. Her lodge sisters had charge of the services at the grave. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the chapel of the Roulston-Harford Funeral Home. Rev. Harold V. Hartshorn of Highland and formerly pastor of the Pilgrim Congregational church of Hemet, officiated. Mrs. Guthridge's five adult sons were pallbearers. They are William D. and Virgil, of Romoland; Benjamin of Los Angeles, Harold of San Diego, and Cyril of La Jolla. Besides the five sons, Mrs. Guthridge is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W. Ward, Van Nuys, and Mrs. C. C. Venable, Artesia; six brothers, Ben Teel, Brea; Harvey Teel, San Francisco; Clay Teel, Romoland; Howard Teel, Van Nuys; Gilbert, Van Nuys, Gilbert, Van Nuys, and Irving, Van Nuys, and her mother, Nancy Teel of Van Nuys.
