She was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Goode Township to Brooks Parkinson and Marie (Kirkpatrick) Parkinson. She was married to the Rev. James Albert Bays. She and her husband, the Rev. Albert Bays, were owners and operators of Bays Blossom Shop in Sesser until retirement. She was a member of Bear Point Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Jim and Janet Bays of Mount Vernon, Robert and Kitty Bays of Chester, Bill and Tammy Bay of Sesser, John and Cindy Bays of Sesser, Tim and Amy Bays of Sesser, Joyce and Jim Price of Sesser, Doris and Don Worthen of Surprise, Ariz., Patty and Larry Boles of Mount Vernon, Becky and Larry Reed of Benton; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marietta and Ken Williams of Benton, Danny and Cynthia Parkinson of Zeigler, and Ray and Donna Parkinson of Mahomet. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on May 20, 1994; one grandson, Justin Reed; two brothers, Noel and Warren Parkinson; and a son-in-law, Scott Curry. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, in Bear Point Freewill Baptist Church in Sesser, with Brother Larry Cook officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser; and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Memorials can be made to Bear Point Baptist Church or Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home. Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home of Sesser is in charge of arrangements.
