Stephen passed away on February 21, 2010 while at Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 26, 2:00 p.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 900 H Street, Bakersfield, CA. Stephen was preceded in death by his father and mother, Herbert and Lois Cowan; also sister, Rebecca Smith. Stephen is survived by his son, Chris Cowan, wife Tori and two grandsons, Lane and Steven. Stephen was also a big brother and adopted father to Christopher Luettgenau, wife Jamie and children, Kailyn and Conner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve also is survived by brother, Herb and his wife Anne; brother, David and his wife Connie; sister, Pam Ritschel and her husband Jerry.
