Elder Joseph Marshall of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate and interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Mr. Cowan was a native of Ontario and had lived in Kern County 45 years; was a production foreman for the M. H. Whittier Corp. for 26 years; a graduate of Bakersfield High School and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his widow, Louise [Lois] Cowan; 3 sons, Herbert of Pacifica and David and Steven of Bakersfield; 2 daughters, Mrs. Pamela Ritschel of Alameda and Miss Becky Cowan of Bakersfield; 3 brothers, Troy of Bakersfield, LeRoy of Torrance and Ronald of Anaheim, 4 sisters, Mrs. Gladys Paul of Oildale, Mrs. Velma Crilley of Buena Park, Mrs. Edna Chambers of Saugus and Mrs. Maxine Knox of Bakersfield; and 4 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bill Kennedy, Boyde McNeal, Bill Reese, Ken Cossel, David Jones and Caroll Rethell.
