The Times Union, Albany, New York, Wednesday, October 4, 2000: Clifton Park--- Luigi V. Farina DMD, 73, of the Oakbrook Commons in Clifton Park, died suddenly on Monday, October 2, 2000 at his residence, after being stricken. He was born in Schenectady on August 17, 1927 and was the son of the late Vincenzio L. and Anna Silvi Farina. Dr. Farina was a US Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, where he received his bachelor's degree. He received his doctor of medical dentistry degree from the University of Alabama. Dr. Farina was a member of the 3rd District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Society and the American Dental Assn. He retired in 1988 from his dental office in Latham, where he had practiced for about 35 years. He was the husband of late Benga F. Farina, who died in 1998. He was the father of Benga L. Farina of Vienna, VA; and brother of Mary DeMidio, Joseph Farina and Edith Grosso, all of Schenectady and Olga Tinsley of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. from the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9, Clifton Park. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Jonesville Cemetery. His wife, Benga F. Farina, died in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Benga L. Farina of Vienna, Va.; three sisters, Mary DeMidio and Edith Grosso, both of Schenectady, and Olga Tinsley of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Joseph Farina of Schenectady. The services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9. There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in the Jonesville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
